1. Where can people follow you online, and who are your followers?

You can follow me on Instagram at @ginny.m.mueller. My followers are a mix of friends, family, and people who are either already actively involved in the outdoors, or who are interested in learning more!

2. How long have you been actively using social media to share content?

I’ve been sharing content on Instagram since 2015. My favorite subjects are hiking, camping, Native American history in the Southwest, and how thrifting your closet is better for the environment than buying new.

3. What led you to begin using social media as a platform, and how do your outdoor adventures fit that platform?

My social media platform is an extension of me. My identity is closely tied to the outdoors and responsible recreation, and I feel called to share the beauty of the outdoors with others!

4. What does nature and the outdoors mean to you?

Since I was a child, nature has brought me peace and contentment. I feel most joyful, connected, and present when I’m outdoors, and I try to fit the outdoors into my daily life, even if it’s just for a short walk around my neighborhood. I studied both Wildlife Biology and Literature in college so I also enjoy observing plants and animals in the wild, and writing about them when I get back home.

5. How do you think social media and other communications can influence good stewardship of the outdoors?

Information sharing is so important, and so is making that information accessible! I want everyone to feel excited and capable in the outdoors, and to know how to be responsible stewards of the environment.

6. What else do you want people to know about you?

The first time I saw petroglyphs in Arizona, I had no idea who had made them, or when. When I started learning their history (and the history of the people of the Southwest), I was enraptured! I find so much joy from learning about history, preservation, and stewardship of these precious natural and historical resources. I encourage you to go to local museums and public lands to learn more too!
